A friend of mine on Facebook posted this. I checked it out and honestly, this is the dumbest thing I have read in a long time.
The site is 'Think before you speak' and while I agree with that age old adage, isn't it the context of the word more so than the actual word itself people need to 'think' about before they open their mouth? I mean, come on! There are words listed on this site that are just plain stupid - apparently just about every word is offensive in some way, so what CAN we say?
In fact, doesn't 'gay' mean 'happy'? So why does it suddenly have anything to do with same sex relationships? Whose word was that first anyway?
Look, I am completely for the stopping of bullying, name calling and harassment that goes on in schools - it is absolutely unnecessary. However, creating a site such as this only eggs offenders on, in my opinion, which makes it more 'fun' to them, to harass.
Not to mention, things such as tolerance, proper etiquette, and just plain having manners, needs to be taught at home.

Quite insane! I mean, saying intellectually challenged can still be taken as an insult! It's al HOW you say something, not what you say!
And let's face it, sometimes people really are idiots. I've had my fair share of idiot moments and have no problem owning up to them. I call them my dumb brunette moments.
I actually wrote a post the other day about how my real estate agent called me honey. In itself, honey isn't an insult, but it was in the manner she said it. Like you said, it's the how, not the what. Unfortunately, bullies will still find ways to be bullies, even if they have to use what would otherwise be non-offensive words to do it. All they have to do is change their tone, the way my agent did with the honey comment.

Well, honestly, it does kind of drag you down to have the word for your sexuality (come on, when's the last time you actually used the word gay referring to something happy?)being used as a word for sucks or bad. And before it meant gay homosexual, it meant Notice you don't hear people walking around saying "That's so STRAIGHT!" I think it's ridiculous to think that it's not connected at all. Sorry, but that's my opinion. : D To each his own though, right?
